Lower Exe Mooring Authority

MOORING SCHEDULES

The LEMA Ltd  Management Committee have used national standards and manufacturers specifications of the individual component parts of the mooring gear, to group all the swinging moorings in the lower Exe in to just six standard  Mooring  Schedules.  The details of these six Schedules, recommended by LEMA Ltd for boats up to 13.6m (45ft) 10 tonnes, are set out below.

The aim of recommending these six standard Mooring Schedules is to reduce costs and increase safety.

It is recommended that the size and strength of the individual components of swinging moorings for boats over 13.6m (45ft) and/or over 10 tonnes, are calculated individually by the mooring layer.

Schedule Drying Moorings for Tenders up to 6.3m (10ft ). Maximum tonnage, 0.13 tonnes.

To be used for drying moorings that will only be licensed by LEMA Ltd. for Tenders, Small Dinghies or Ribs, that are less than 10 ft (3.03m) in overall length, including projections, of light displacement and less than 0.13 tonnes. (130 kg approx 1 cwt,)

1-off  Sinker: min. 0.33 tonnes

Sinkers must be buried in the river bed so that no part of the sinker is less than 300mm (1ft) below the river bed.
